Luis de Camões (1524-1580) war ein Schriftsteller und Dichter aus der Renaissance, der als einer der wichtigsten Autoren der portugiesischen Sprache gilt. Camões 'Leben verging zwischen Reisen, militärischen Überfällen und intensiven verbotenen Romanzen.
Er war ein äußerst sensibler Mann, der aufgrund seiner impulsiven Natur Herausforderungen bewältigen musste und mehr als einmal von Armut betroffen war. Diese Erfahrungen waren die Inspiration für die Schaffung seiner Arbeit, die zwischen Drama, Geschichte und Komödie durch Poesie und Theater stattfindet.

Sein Werk Los Lusiada (1572) gilt als sein wichtigster Beitrag, ein Epos, das Ereignisse in der Geschichte Portugals erzählt, wobei die maritimen Errungenschaften vor der Welt besonders berücksichtigt werden.
Biografie
Luis Vaz de Camões wurde 1524 in Lissabon, Portugal geboren. Er war das einzige Kind von Simão Vaz de Camões und Ana de Sá y Macedo, einem mit dem portugiesischen Gericht verbundenen Ehepaar.
Als König Johannes III. Von Portugal 1527 nach Coimbra zog, um vor einer Epidemie in Lissabon zu fliehen, wechselten die Camões ihren Wohnsitz dauerhaft. Der kleine Luis war damals erst drei Jahre alt.
Bildung
Historiker können die Art der Ausbildung, die Camões erhalten hat, nicht mit Sicherheit sicherstellen, da die überprüften Daten über das persönliche Leben des Dichters sehr knapp sind.
Die meisten von ihnen sind sich einig, dass Coimbra der Ort war, an dem Camões seine akademische Ausbildung erhielt, die er im Kloster Santa María studierte, wo er sich besonders für Geschichte, Geographie und Literatur interessierte.
Es wird auch geschätzt, dass er Theologie und Philosophie an der Universität von Coimbra studiert hat, basierend auf der Art der Ausbildung, die ein junger Mann seiner Klasse zu dieser Zeit erhielt, dem Ort, an dem er lebte, und der Art des Wissens, das er in seiner Arbeit widerspiegelt.

Mit 20 Jahren war er bereits als sehr unruhiger und verliebter junger Mann bekannt, der Gedichte schrieb, um die Damen seiner Umgebung anzulocken.
Er drückte seine Zuneigung besonders der jungen Catarina de Ataide aus, der Tochter eines engen Freundes von König Juan III., Die er in seinen Gedichten verewigte und öffentlich eine von Herzen kommende Leidenschaft machte.
Militärisches Leben
Der Tod seines Vaters hinterließ bei der Familie Camões einen bescheidenen sozialen Status und war voller Schulden. Dies war möglicherweise der Auslöser für den jungen Dichter, sich als Soldat in den Dienst des Königs zu stellen und damit Verdienste für den Militärdienst zu verdienen.
Andere behaupten jedoch, dass seine Liebesbeziehungen mit der jungen Catarina de Ataide die Ursache für ein mögliches Exil waren.
Unabhängig von den Gründen, die Camões veranlassten, sich ins Ausland zu begeben, wurde bekannt, dass er zwei Jahre in Ceuta blieb, wo er während eines blutigen Kampfes gegen die Mauren sein rechtes Auge verlor.
1549, im Alter von 25 Jahren, kehrte Camões nach Lissabon zurück, wurde jedoch vier Jahre später nach einem Streit mit Gonzalo Borges, einem Angestellten des portugiesischen Gerichts, inhaftiert. Für diesen Vorfall blieb er ein Jahr lang hinter Gittern.
Nachdem er eine königliche Begnadigung erhalten hatte, reiste er 1554 im Rahmen einer Reihe von Militärexpeditionen nach Goa, Indien, die mit der kolonialen Expansion Portugals in Asien verbunden waren.
Die Lusiadas (1572)
Zu dieser Zeit begann Camões, den ersten Teil seines epischen Gedichts Los Lusiadas zu schreiben, ein Werk, das nach seinem Abschluss in zehn Lieder mit einer variablen Anzahl von Strophen unterteilt wurde.
Los Lusiadas gilt als eine der wichtigsten literarischen Kreationen der Welt und beschreibt die Heldentaten des portugiesischen Entdeckers Vasca Da Gama, der den Weg zwischen Portugal und Indien nachverfolgte und historische Realität mit mythologischen Bezügen mischte.
Von Goa zog er nach Macao (China), wo er sechs weitere Teile seines epischen Gedichts schrieb.
Seine Rückkehr nach Indien war traumatisch, da er fast sein Leben verlor, als das Schiff, in dem er sich bewegte, vor der Küste Mosambiks sank.
Gelehrte seines Lebens bestätigen, dass er erneut inhaftiert wurde, aber dies wird von anderen Historikern bestritten, die sagen, dass Camões einfach in Mosambik bleiben musste, weil er nicht die Ressourcen hatte, um an einen anderen Ort zu ziehen.
Es war sein Freund Diogo do Couto, der ihm half, indem er für eine Überfahrt nach Portugal bezahlte, wo er schließlich 1570 nach 16 Jahren im Exil ankam.
1572 veröffentlichte er Los Lusiadas, ein Werk, das seinen größten Erfolg darstellte und das ihn einer lebenslangen Rente würdig machte, die König Sebastián I. gewährte.

Hoy bustos y estatuas de Camões se erigen en varias partes del mundo para honrar la memoria de este destacado escritor portugués. En 1988, Portugal y Brasil acordaron la creación de un premio literario que lleva su nombre.
Su obra permanece en el gusto de los lectores y de la crítica especializada quinientos años después de su creación con traducciones al español, inglés y hebreo.
