Jules Verne (1828-1905) war ein bekannter französischer Schriftsteller, dessen intelligente Vorstellungskraft die Grundlagen der heutigen Science-Fiction förderte. Er gilt als seiner Zeit voraus, da viele seiner literarischen Projekte dank wissenschaftlicher Fortschritte Jahrzehnte später durchgeführt werden konnten. Verne zeichnete sich auch durch Dramaturgie und Poesie aus.
Schon in jungen Jahren zeigte Verne eine bemerkenswerte Leidenschaft für Geographie, Wissenschaft, Meer und Expeditionen an unbekannte Orte. Bald wurde ihm klar, dass er sich im typischen bürgerlichen Eheleben, das für die Verwaltung der Aktien verantwortlich war, gelangweilt hatte.

Aus diesem Grund schrieb Verne 1862 seinen ersten Roman, der von den Erfahrungen von Madar inspiriert war, einem abenteuerlustigen Mann, der den Ballon als Transportmittel vorschlagen wollte. Er war überzeugt, dass der Ballon die Art und Weise, wie der Mensch reist, revolutionieren würde. Mit dieser Art des Schreibens von Verne wurde eine Literatur für die Jugend geboren.
Verne zeichnete sich dadurch aus, dass er wusste, wie man fantastische Elemente auf intelligente und gut strukturierte Weise mit wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen kombiniert, was den Unterschied zwischen Realität und Fiktion fast unmerklich machte. Dies lässt sich deutlich in einem seiner berühmtesten Werke veranschaulichen: Reise zum Erdmittelpunkt, veröffentlicht 1864.
Nach seinem ersten Erfolg schrieb Verne andere Werke, die gleichermaßen gefeiert wurden, wie Von der Erde zum Mond und Rund um den Mond (1865). Er schrieb auch eine sehr berühmte Trilogie, die unzählige Male für den Film adaptiert wurde: Captain Grants Söhne (1868), 20.000 Meilen unter dem Meer (1870) und The Mysterious Island (1874).
Aufgrund ihres Ruhms unter jungen Lesern unterwarfen Schriftsteller und Literaturkritiker ihre Texte starken Verunglimpfungen und argumentierten, dass es sich um schlecht geschriebene Bücher handele, die jungen Menschen wenig über gute Schreibformen beibrachten.
Im Laufe der Jahre wurden Vernes Vorstellungskraft und sein Platz in der Weltliteratur jedoch seit seinen revolutionären Ideen (wie der Schaffung eines der ersten Tauchanzüge) bestätigt. Sie zeigten den skeptischsten Lesern, dass er ein literarischer Geist war, der für seine Zeit weit fortgeschritten war.
Biografie
Frühe Jahre und akademische Leistung
Jules Gabriel Verne wurde am 8. Februar 1828 in Nantes, Frankreich, geboren. Seine Eltern waren Pierre Verne, ein bekannter Anwalt in der Region, und Sophie Allotte de la Fuye. Julio ist das älteste der fünf Ehekinder.
1839 besuchte der junge Verne die Bildungseinrichtung Saint-Stanislas, wo er seine Fähigkeiten in den Disziplinen Geographie, Latein, Griechisch und Gesang unter Beweis stellte. Als Geschenk für den Abschluss seines Studiums beschloss Pierre Verne, seinen beiden Söhnen eine Schaluppe zu geben, ein kleines Boot, das aus einem einzigen Oberdeck besteht.
Im Prinzip planten die jungen Brüder, die Loire bis zum offenen Meer hinabzusteigen. Der junge Abenteurer gab dieses Abenteuer jedoch auf, da er keine solide Planung für seine Reise vorgenommen hatte.
Flucht
Laut einigen Historikern lief Verne im Alter von elf Jahren von zu Hause weg, um Kabinenjunge zu werden und Geld zu sammeln, um eine Halskette für seine Cousine zu kaufen, da er in sie verliebt war. Sein wütender Vater schaffte es, ihn einzuholen, bevor das Schiff segelte.
Von diesem Moment an begann Verne fantastische Geschichten über Abenteuer und Reisen zu schreiben, die auch von den Geschichten seines Lehrers beeinflusst wurden, da ihr Mann Seemann war.
Der zukünftige Schriftsteller zeigte von Anfang an ein seltsames Interesse an Poesie und Wissenschaft, Disziplinen, die als völlig gegensätzlich gelten. Er war sehr neugierig auf die Welt und sammelte verschiedene wissenschaftliche Artikel und Broschüren. Diese Neugier blieb in Verne für den Rest seines Lebens verborgen.
Universitätsstudium und Anfänge schriftlich

1847 begann der junge Mann in Paris Jura zu studieren, während er unter der Enttäuschung seines Cousins litt, der sich mit einem anderen Mann verlobt hatte. Zu dieser Zeit schrieb er sein erstes Stück namens Alexander VI.
In dieser Zeit wurde er dank des Einflusses seines Onkels in die literarischen Kreise Frankreichs eingeführt. Durch diese Gruppe hatte Verne die Gelegenheit, die Dumas-Schriftsteller zu treffen, sowohl Vater als auch Sohn.
1849 erhielt Verne sein Jurastudium und beschloss, eine Zeit lang in Paris zu bleiben. Einige Monate später erkannte der junge Schriftsteller, dass er sich dem Schreiben widmen wollte, also schrieb er weiter Theaterstücke. Als sein Vater davon erfuhr, hörte er auf, ihn zu finanzieren.
Verne gab all seine Ersparnisse für Bücher aus und verbrachte unzählige Stunden in den verschiedenen Bibliotheken der Hauptstadt. Er hatte sehr wenig Geld, um sich selbst zu ernähren, was schreckliche Krankheiten verursachte.
Diese Informationen kamen den Historikern durch die Briefe, die Verne an seine Mutter sandte, in denen er den ganzen Hunger beschrieb, den er durchmachen musste, um mit seiner literarischen Arbeit Schritt zu halten. Aufgrund der schlechten Ernährung litt Julio an Darminkontinenz, Diabetes und Gesichtslähmung.
Theaterdebüt
1850 gelang es Verne dank seiner Freundschaft mit Dumas Vater, mehrere Stücke zu uraufführen. Seine dramatischen Texte hatten bescheidenen Erfolg und er beschloss, das Geld, das er verdient hatte, in ein Klavier zu investieren.
In diesen Jahren reiste er nach Schottland, Norwegen und Island. Später lernte er den Abenteurer und Journalisten Nadar kennen, der als Inspiration für das Stück Five Weeks in a Globe diente.
Dank Nadar lernte Verne denjenigen kennen, der sein Herausgeber sein sollte, der zu dieser Zeit Eigentümer des Education and Recreation Magazine war. Durch diesen Kontakt gelang es Verne, sein Leben komplett zu verändern und sich unter den meistgelesenen Schriftstellern seiner Zeit zu behaupten.

Wenn Verne nicht über Hetzel gestolpert wäre, wäre der literarische Geist des Autors wahrscheinlich geschwächt worden.
Hetzel begann seine Karriere im frommen Buchhandel, interessierte sich aber auch für Literatur und Geschichte. Dieser Herausgeber war ein Liebhaber der Neuheiten seiner Zeit, deshalb suchte er immer nach neuen Talenten.
1850 war Hetzel der wichtigste Verleger des Jahrhunderts und veröffentlichte unter anderem Werke großer französischer Schriftsteller wie Hugo und Mitchelet. Der Herausgeber beschloss, ein Qualitätsmagazin zu gründen, dessen Grundlagen lehrreich, aber entspannend und für alle Altersgruppen geeignet sein sollten.
Jean Macé war verantwortlich für den pädagogischen Teil und der Schriftsteller Stahl für den literarischen Teil. Ihm fehlte nur ein Mitarbeiter für den wissenschaftlichen Teil, und so gelangte Verne in die Hände von PJ Hetzel.
Aufstieg seiner künstlerischen Karriere und literarischen Reisen

Eines der ersten Science-Fiction-Werke von Verne wurde 1859 während einer Reise nach Schottland geschrieben. es wurde im 20. Jahrhundert Paris betitelt. Dieser Roman wurde zu Lebzeiten des Autors nie veröffentlicht, da Pierre-Jules Hetzel ihn als ein sehr pessimistisches Werk betrachtete, das nicht den literarischen Anforderungen junger Franzosen entsprach.
Danach begann Verne, eine komplette Geschichte zu schreiben, die er The Extraordinary Journeys nannte. In diesem Bereich befinden sich unter anderem die Texte von Fünf Wochen in einem Ballon, Reise zum Erdmittelpunkt, Von der Erde zum Mond, In 80 Tagen um die Welt und Miguel Strogoff.
Sein berühmter Roman In achtzig Tagen um die Welt wurde für die Bühne adaptiert, und Verne konnte an der Montage des Stücks teilnehmen. Tatsächlich war der Autor persönlich dafür verantwortlich, den Korb zu überprüfen, in dem Phileas Fogg und Passepartout auf einem echten Elefanten transportiert werden sollten.
Als merkwürdige Anekdote fiel einer der Teile der Bühne während einer Szene, so dass das Tier Angst hatte und entsetzt mit Verne auf dem Rücken floh und den gesamten Boulevard des Capuchins bereiste. Zum Glück konnte der Zahmer ihn erreichen, bevor jemand verletzt wurde.
Aufgrund seines Erfolgs hatte Verne die Gelegenheit, drei Boote zu kaufen, die er Saint Michel I, II und III taufte. Dies ermöglichte ihm viele Seereisen, bei denen er verschiedene Städte und Kulturen kannte. All dieses Wissen diente als Inspiration für seine Arbeiten.
Um seinen Roman 20.000 Meilen U-Boot-Reise zu schreiben, ließ sich Verne von der Mündung des Vigo inspirieren, in der im 18. Jahrhundert der Erbfolgekrieg zwischen den Spaniern und den Engländern stattfand.
Aus diesem Grund beschloss der Autor 1878, mit seinem Schiff Saint Michel III an diesen Ort zu reisen. Verne war fasziniert von dieser Seite und war eine Quelle der Inspiration, um weiter zu schreiben.
Er reiste auch nach Lissabon, wo er in Tanger, Malaga, Cádiz, Tetouan, Gibraltar und Algier Halt machte. Noch zwei Jahre lang reiste Verne in verschiedene Länder wie Irland, Schottland, Norwegen, England und die Ostsee.
Einige Aspekte des persönlichen Lebens des Autors
In Bezug auf sein persönliches Leben heiratete Verne 1857 Honorine Deviane Morel in der Hoffnung, emotionale Stabilität zu finden. Das Eheleben langweilte den Schriftsteller jedoch bald, weshalb er es vorzog, lange Reisen zu unternehmen, um weit weg von zu Hause zu sein.
Infolge dieser Ehe wurde nur Michel Verne geboren, ein rebellischer und hartnäckiger Sohn, den sein Vater zweimal in einer Anstalt interniert hatte. Michel konnte Julio das nie verzeihen, daher gab es immer eine tiefe Lücke zwischen den beiden Schriftstellern.

Als Jules Verne 1886 58 Jahre alt war, wurde er Opfer eines tragischen Ereignisses: Sein Neffe Gastón, mit dem er eine angenehme Beziehung hatte, schoss ihm ohne Grund ins Bein. Dies verursachte dem Schriftsteller ein Hinken, von dem er sich nie erholen konnte. Infolgedessen war Gastón in eine Anstalt eingewiesen.
1887 verstarb PJ Hetzel und Verne begann dunkle Romane zu schreiben. Es wird angenommen, dass Verne auch anfing, dunklere Werke zu schreiben, da Hetzels Sohn, der für das Geschäft seines Vaters verantwortlich war, nicht so akribisch war wie der berühmte Herausgeber.
1888 trat Verne in die politische Sphäre seines Landes ein. Er beteiligte sich aktiv an der Politik der Stadt Amiens, wo er zum Stadtrat gewählt wurde. Diese Position hatte er 15 Jahre lang inne und hatte die Aufgabe, eine breite Palette von Verbesserungen für Amiens zu etablieren.
Bevor Verne ernsthaft krank wurde, erklärte er sich bereit, sich der Esperanto-Gruppe in Amiens anzuschließen und sich dazu zu verpflichten, ein Buch in dieser Sprache zu schreiben. Das Buch trug den Titel Das beeindruckende Abenteuer der Barsac-Mission, konnte jedoch vom Autor nicht fertiggestellt werden. Als es veröffentlicht wurde, hatte es keine Spur mehr der Esperanto-Sprache.
Tod
Der Schriftsteller Jules Verne starb am 24. März 1905 an Diabetes, an dem er jahrzehntelang gelitten hatte. Er starb in der Ruhe seines Hauses und wurde auf dem Friedhof La Madeleine beigesetzt.
Sein Sohn Michel Verne war verantwortlich für die Veröffentlichung der letzten Werke des Autors, wie Der Leuchtturm am Ende der Welt und Die Invasion des Meeres. Michel nahm einige sehr persönliche und berüchtigte Änderungen an der Arbeit seines Vaters vor, die jedoch Jahrzehnte später, am Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts, bekannt wurden.
Stil
In Bezug auf seine eigenen Texte gab Verne an, dass er nie Naturwissenschaften studiert habe, aber dank der Gewohnheit des Lesens gelang es ihm, viel Wissen zu erwerben, das für die Entwicklung seiner Romane nützlich war.
Verne gestand, dass er immer einen Bleistift und ein Notizbuch bei sich hatte, um sofort einen Absatz oder eine Idee aufzuschreiben, die er in seinen Büchern verwenden konnte.
Als der Autor gefragt wurde, warum er wissenschaftliche Romane schrieb, antwortete er, dass seine Inspiration von der Tatsache herrührte, dass er sich dem Studium der Geographie widmete.
Jules Verne erklärte, er habe eine große Liebe zu Karten sowie zu den großen Entdeckern der Menschheit. Von dort kam seine Inspiration, eine Reihe von geografischen Romanen zu schreiben.
In Bezug auf die Richtigkeit seiner Beschreibungen argumentierte Verne, dass die wissenschaftlichen Zufälle darauf zurückzuführen seien, dass der Autor vor Beginn des Schreibens eines Romans eine große Zusammenstellung von Büchern, Zeitungen und wissenschaftlichen Magazinen erstellt habe, die zur Unterstützung seiner Kreationen verwendet werden könnten.
Hauptwerke
Die außergewöhnlichen Reisen: Bekannte und unbekannte Welten (1828-1905)
Vernes außergewöhnliche Reisen sollten seinen Lesern die ganze Erde zeigen; daher der Untertitel der Saga: "Die bekannten und unbekannten Welten".
Dank seiner Forschungen war sich Verne der großen Expeditionen der Zeit bewusst, die vom aufkommenden Imperialismus der Zeit finanziert wurden und zu unerforschten Orten führten, insbesondere im Inneren des afrikanischen Kontinents.
Insgesamt gab es 60 Romane, darunter in achtzig Tagen um die Welt (1873), Von der Erde zum Mond (1865), Um den Montag bis (1870), Die Sphinx des Eises (1897), Die Hervorragende Orinoco (1898), Miguel Strogoff (1876), Die mysteriöse Insel (1874), Die Kinder von Captain Grant (1867) usw.
Fünf Wochen im Ballon (1863)
Über diesen Roman stellte der Autor fest, dass er Afrika als den Ort gewählt hatte, an dem die Abenteuer stattfanden, da es zu dieser Zeit der am wenigsten bekannte Kontinent war, damit er fantastischere Elemente einführen konnte.
Verne bestätigte jedoch, dass er vor dem Schreiben des Textes eine Voruntersuchung durchgeführt habe, da der Schriftsteller trotz der fiktiven Elemente so nah wie möglich an der Realität seiner Zeit bleiben wollte.
Reise zum Erdmittelpunkt (1864)
Dieser Roman war zu dieser Zeit so wichtig, dass heute noch verschiedene audiovisuelle Materialien produziert werden, die von dieser Arbeit inspiriert sind, insbesondere für die große Leinwand.
In diesem Text begegnen die Protagonisten verschiedenen Regionen, die sie in Erstaunen versetzen und erschrecken, wie beispielsweise einer Reihe von Höhlen, einem unterirdischen Meer und einem Vulkan.
Der Protagonist der Geschichte ist Axel, ein junger Mann, der bei seinem Onkel Otto Lidenbrock lebte, der ein Genie in der Mineralogie ist. Das Abenteuer beginnt, wenn sie eine Schriftrolle mit Runenherkunft erhalten, die eine versteckte Botschaft enthält. Beim Entschlüsseln entdecken sie, dass es sich um eine Karte handelt, um zum Erdmittelpunkt zu gelangen.
20.000 Meilen unter dem Meer (1869)
Dieses berühmte Werk wurde von 1869 bis 1870 im Magazin für Bildung und Kreativität veröffentlicht. Die Hauptfigur, Kapitän Nemo, ist ein gewalttätiger und rachsüchtiger Mann, da seine Töchter vergewaltigt und seine Frau wie sein Vater zu Tode verurteilt wurden. Aus diesem Grund ist er dafür verantwortlich, Fregatten zu versenken, ohne sich der Besatzung zu erbarmen.
Die Geschichte wird von einem Professor namens Pierre Aronnax erzählt, der von diesem schrecklichen Kapitän gefangen genommen und an Bord des U-Bootes Nautilus durch die Ozeane des Erdkerns geführt wird.
Paris im 20. Jahrhundert (1994)
1863 hatte Verne im 20. Jahrhundert ein Werk namens Paris geschrieben, das nicht veröffentlicht wurde, da es für die damalige Zeit als zu düster galt. Dieser Text stellt sich jedoch als fast exakte Vorhersage des 20. Jahrhunderts heraus; Das Buch erzählt das Leben eines jungen Mannes, der in einer Art Glaswolkenkratzer lebt.
In diesem Roman hat die Menschheit Gasautos, sehr schnelle Züge, Taschenrechner und ein Kommunikationsnetz (ähnlich dem heutigen Internet).
Trotzdem ist der Protagonist nicht glücklich und geht zu einem tragischen Ende. Das Werk wurde 1989 vom Urenkel des Autors wiederentdeckt und konnte schließlich 1994 veröffentlicht werden.
